5 Reasons Your Wedding Business Needs a Blog

Blogging has been around for quite a while (since the end of the last century). What started as people sharing stories about their everyday lives, has evolved into one of the most powerful marketing tools you can have for your wedding business.

Having a blog helps you show your talents to the world, lets you talk about your expertise, and creates trust between you and your potential clients. Most importantly, it puts you in front of the eyes of more engaged couples than businesses who don’t have a blog on their website, which means more bookings to keep your business going.

Blogs Drive Traffic to Your Website

This will always be my #1 reason for adding a blog to your website. More traffic means more leads, and more business coming to you every month. Blogging using a keyword strategy increases your SEO (search engine optimization), which helps you rank higher in search results. The numbers don’t lie. Here are stats from a great HubSpot article that might convince you:

Businesses with a blog see 13 times the ROI than businesses that don’t.

Companies with blogs produce an average of 67% more leads a month than those that don’t.

Businesses with blogs get 55% more web traffic.

What do you do when you want to find information about a topic you’re researching? You likely pull out your phone and ask Google for the answer. A lot of the content that comes up in your search results are blog posts that someone has written on the very topic you looked up. Now you’re on that business’s website, and you will probably look around at other posts they’ve written as well. As someone who owns a wedding business, you want potential clients to find your blogs. It gives them a reason to stay on your page and look around even more.

Yes, advertising on sites like The Knot, WeddingWire, Here Comes the Guide, and other platforms will also help you generate leads. Those sites also direct couples to your website, where they will then see your blog. There they’ll find amazing wedding albums featuring your work and helpful information they can refer back to when planning their wedding. So, while advertising also leads a couple to your site, it’s your blog that will get them to stay and potentially reach out to you about your services.

Build Trust and Credibility with Your Blog

Couples want to work with a professional they can trust who isn’t just trying to sell to them. According to HubSpot, 70% of people want to learn about a business through articles rather than ads. A blog with informative content shows that you are a trusted source in your field. Feature advice about the best way to search for a wedding venue, or explain the difference between silk and fresh flowers. Share your knowledge, talk about your process as a professional and inspire engaged couples with your unique ideas. Your clients and potential clients will see you’re a wedding pro who knows their stuff.

Showcase Your Work on Your Blog

You work incredibly hard for your clients. Show off what you can do! Post gorgeous photos of a first look you captured at sunset, or showcase the dramatic centerpieces you spent hours creating. No matter what you do to make your client’s event a success, make sure the world sees your talent.

You may already be doing this via a portfolio on your website, and that’s wonderful. With a blog, you can share a little bit about the couple i.e., how they got engaged or how beautifully you clicked with them the minute you met. A blog adds a personal touch to the photos on your website.

Use Your Blog to Benefit Channels You’re Already Using

Having a blog means you also have more content for social medial and your email marketing campaigns. It makes it easier to have something to share online, but don’t just share your new blogs. You can reshare older articles too when they are relevant.

Post a link to your blog post on Facebook, or announce a new article on Instagram stories. Don’t forget about Pinterest, which is the ultimate search engine for wedding planning. Because honestly, how many couples have you met who DON’T have a wedding Pinterest board? Probably not many.

Do you have a monthly newsletter or weekly email campaign that goes out to your clients? Include links to your blog there too.

Address Pain Points for Your Clients

Go on your social media page or talk to your existing clients to see what their pain points are. Maybe they can’t figure out what kind of bustle they want for their wedding gown, or they don’t know how to handle unsolicited wedding advice from their nosy aunt. Write a blog post about it! Not only will you help solve these pain points for your clients (which they will LOVE you for), but also for others needing the same advice.

Are you ready to start a blog for your wedding website, but you’re not sure where to begin? Maybe you want to add articles to your website but can’t carve out the time.
